PERSONALITY QUESTIONS

What skills does your character bring to the situation?

Evie is at her base a planner. She thinks, she plans, she analyzes, and then she checks her work for good measure. There are times that this means that she can be delayed to act however it also means that she is willing to take the step back at critical moments on order to see a larger picture. Because while her brother Jacob tends to see the trees, Evie sees the forest. Together they see an entire picture. And on her own she is learning to adapt to more of her brothers approach even as instinct still tells her to find as many facts as possible.

This lends to her skills as a researcher, not just through book learning but in observing. Evie is an assassin and takes reconnaissance very seriously, all falling back to her tendency to plan and think. Yes Evie has the stealth, agility, and guile from being raised as an assassin from birth, but it is all put towards that plan for the greater good. For mission over self.

Her fighting style lends more towards stealth but by no means is she not a brawler. Evie has taken on just as many gang fights and underground bareknuckle brawls as her brother. Her body has been trained and refined as a weapon and that can be utilized in her preferred manner of stealth or in an all out assault.

And with all that in mind, Evie has heart. As much as she loves her plans, as much as she has training and skill and discipline, Evie also has a fierce sense of personal loyalty. And that could shine in this situation. Or possibly be a bit contentious, depending on where those loyalties lie.

Why did you choose this specific character for 6I, and how do you picture them fitting into the game?

On an OOC game level I have sought a game with an active AC cast for years and never been successful. I think the characters overall are really fun in panfandom situations given the lore of the game.

As for why I chose Evie specifically, Evie is a character who playing through her game was a unique experience for me. I've wanted to play her since Syndicate came out. She's a female character who never really played second fiddle to Jacob, despite sharing the game. Instead she was this wonderful, intelligent woman with her own insecurities and flaws that weren't just explored as part of her arc but actively were braced as sometimes being the better option (and sometimes not). And until Evie's jack the ripper DLC I'm not sure I'd ever played a middle aged woman as a protagonist in a game before. Just her entire arc, that she's allowed to fall in love and be happy. That she's allowed to be a leader. That she's allowed to not just not be a mother but be happy and satisfied in her marriage while not being a mother. That she has a swag came sword and uses it expertly. Evie Frye is a goddess, a complicated, flawed, amazing goddess.

For fitting in ICly, she has Jacob who really they are twins and two sides of a coin and siblings of the tallest order. There is also the rest of the AC gang that I think will be very interesting for her to geek out over given her studious nature in relation to the assassin order. And the surrounding themselves will fascinate her. Evie is innately curious and the Observers will strike her a similar to experiences with the precursers and the pieces of Eden. She is going to want to explore, going to want to try and find out what's going on, and also try to get Jacob to sleep indoors.

How do you imagine your character will survive in 6I, and in what ways will they contribute to the settlement, if any?

Evie and her brother from an early age were taught how to survive as assassin's. While they were in Victorian England versus further back, she knows how to stalk, how to hunt, and she has no problems with doing what's necessary to complete a mission. Will she miss electricity? Yes, but honestly it wasn't all that reliable anyway when they had it. And she's lived without it as well. For contributions she's readily able to hunt, to teach others to defend themselves, and a curious and eager learner for things that are new to her. She has an interest in plants that was in part fostered by her husband's curiosities and in the creation of new (at least to her) technologies, or at the very least adapting them to her needs.

How will your character react to...

Being separated, possibly permanently, from loved ones and their previous life, including loss of powers, if applicable?
Powers are something that Evie could learn to live without. While her eagle vision is helpful, her primary abilities have always been her mind and her training. For loved ones, it would depend on the situation. If Evie feels she has the possibility of tracking them down, of finding them, then she will not be stopped from doing so. If placed in a position where she knows they are inaccessible, she will adapt. After all a good assassin knows that not everything in permanent. Nothing is true, everything is permitted.

Their environment being manipulated, possibly in strange or extraordinary ways, and possibly in ways which restrain them?

Curiosity will always get the best of Evie. An environment that changes, that is something entirely new, she is going to be curious and honestly will likely begin to poke at it. She has had her life upended before and she’s experienced the strange and unusual with the Pieces of Eden. As for being restrained, Evie is someone who tries to outthink rather than immediately try to outfight. If she’s in a situation where she’s contained, she’s going to explore, she’s going to plan, and she’s going to gather whatever information she can in order to find out what’s going on and if she can find a way out.

Being physically and/or mentally manipulated, such as having hallucinations or suddenly possessing special abilities they did not have before?

Evie is actually fairly familiar with mental manipulation and hallucinations, given that her recent relocation to India has led her to learning the fear tactics of the Indian Brotherhood. She has experienced it as well as used it against targets. She is also familiar with both from Templar tactics. This familiarity leads her to attempt to reason through it. Again Evie’s instinct is to pull back and plan if she can. If she can’t and put in a corner though she will fight and isn’t one to back down.

SAMPLE 1
Why did you choose this sample?
These were my test drives with Evie. It’s also my first time playing her so I thought they’d be a good showcase.

SAMPLE 2
Why did you choose this sample?
This was an entry I wrote recently to showcase NPCs for a game I was running so that players could start getting a feel for them.

“This isn't funny!” her shoulders bristled, nearly up to her ears before she forced them to sit down, squared and strong.

Instead that stupid smile still looked up at her from his chair. It was easy to just be mesmerized by the brilliant flash of white, teeth that seemed almost too perfect, a whole set of lined up stars. But beyond the smile was a face that despite the lack of lines in the past few decades while she had more than she liked to count in the mirror was something else. His eyes were sunken, there was an ashen look to his skin that wasn't just from the cold that was beginning to set in. The smile was the same, and it never failed to irritate her.

“It's a little funny.” His voice had an easy amusement, matching his smile. Maybe a little too well. “You marched in here like an angry penguin, all puffed up and nowhere to go.”

The rough groan of frustration that escaped her barely contained the urge to drag her nails against her own face dealing with him. “You slept through the address. Debra goes up there all prim and calm and you're a dead log back here. And then it's 'oh I'm fine, Lily, you worry too much Lily, I'm just a little tired’”

“I am just a little tired.” And he was. More than a little. She saw that he hadn't gotten up from that stupid overstuffed chair. How long had he been there? She hadn't seen him in three days.

“Tired enough to get bed sores.” She snipped, a high sniff in the air as her arms crossed.

He winked at her. Stupid fucking winks. “Benefit of the job, I don't get those.”

Why did he refuse to take this seriously? Why did he never seem to take anything seriously? Oh sure there was the town, the inner workings of all that, but Robert just seemed to think it was all a big game. And a game he was starting to lose because the game was always rigged.

“Have you even eaten?” and she got a shrug in answer. “How long?” Her shrill question was met with another shrug.

Hours? Days? He'd barely been out since New Year's and she wasn't a fan of covering for him. In that stupid office with its perky and well meaning staff. Lily was fairly certain the perkier someone was the more corrupt they'd turn out to be in the end. And yet Robert was just letting them go, his little trusted cogs all chosen and polished.

“Get your ass out of that chair.” She snipped as she headed towards the kitchen as if she lived there. The layout hadn't changed in years. Decades. Once he had said the hardwood floors were original. Whenever that meant.

“I like this chair.” Robert’s voice followed her clicking heels, but she could hear the creak of bones that seemed older than the skin holding them.

“I'm going to throw it out and you with it!” She called back, pulling the fridge door open with petulance.

A laugh followed. Without seeing him it traveled back decades, unchanged and unrelenting in its humor. There was that flashback thrill of the memory of being young again. And he was supposed to stay the same. The laugh had.

“Don't think I won't!” She huffed, pulling out parts to a sandwich. “I don't care if it's your house, old man.”
